Floorlayer Apprenticeship
What is a Floorlayer?
Floorlayers cut, fit and install hardwood flooring and various types of underlayment to insure smooth, level surfaces for the finished floor. They also scribe, cut, fit, layout and seam tile and "sheet stock" in variety of patterns. They are skillful in cutting, binding, sewing, and installing carpet. They work from the specifications of architects and interior designers and must be good at estimating materials and doing layout. One of their specialties, geometrical designs in floors, sometimes requires the installation of inlaid pieces.

Length of the program - 4 years | |

Four weeks of related classroom work each year | |
|
Starting pay - 45% of the journeyman wage | |
|
We currently have a partnership with Owens Community College that will allow apprentices to receive college credits working toward a two-year associate degree |
